Welcome to our ice cream stand! Here at Portersville Steam Show we are dedicated to exhibiting old fashioned ways of doing things, our ice cream stand is no different.
Our family, along with friends and members make the ice cream the old fashioned way. The ice cream is made in 5 gallon white mountain mixers, that are chain driven by a drive shaft that connects four machines to a pulley at the end, which is belt driven by whatever tractor is available at that time.
We feel that our visitors enjoy watching the ice cream being made almost as much as they enjoy eating it. Currently we only make chocolate and vanilla, however we have a hard time just keeping up with the demands for those flavors. There is seldom ever a time during our shows that the ice cream machines are not churning. Although the lines may sometimes be long, most of our guests say that it was worth the wait.! The Price?, only a dollar a cup, it's been that way for as long as we can remember! Someday we are sure we may have to change that, inflation and such. However, not anytime soon.
Please stop by and see us. Let us know what you think, we at the ice cream stand want to know. We welcome any questions and comments.
Thank you, to all who help the ice cream stand operate so efficiently. That includes everyone inside the stand, tractor operators, and the customers of course! Great job, everyone!
