Portersville Steam Show's very own turn of the twentieth century saw mill. Operated by our clubs President and crew.
This is the clubs second mill. The right handed mill we had prior was replaced by this left handed mill approximately in 1995. This mill was purchased from Keith Graham. It was located in Mt. Chestnut, PA. The late Harold Bupp and crew brought the new mill in and set it up where it still operates today. Currently the mill is ran by the use of tractors and steam engines that are belted up to the mill. We use a variety of power for each show. In the past the mill was ran with the use of a Frick portable 25 hp., steam engine, owned by Bill Henry. When visiting you will get a demonstration of twentieth century sawmill. We run the mill every show approximately 10:00 am. (4-5 logs), 1:00 pm. (4-5 logs), and 3:00 pm. (2-3 logs). Occasionally we sell the wood for $1.00 bd. ft. However, ask first as some is cut for mill. If you or anyone you know has reasonable sized log(s) and you would like to donate them or have cut, please contact us. We are always looking for more logs.
